Paul McCartney is back at No. 1 on two Billboard charts this week. The former Beatle is used to ruling the rankings, but this time, he doesn’t do so as an artist. Instead, the legendary musician claims more winners as a songwriter.
A cover of McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” has worked its way to No. 1 on a pair of Billboard charts. The tune was reworked by Blessing Offor, who sends his version to the top spot on both the Christian Airplay and Christian AC Airplay rankings.
“Wonderful Christmastime” hits the highest rung on both radio rankings–which focus specifically on Christian music–for the first time. Offor is one of the most exciting names in this field at the moment, and he has been succeeding on these lists for some time.
His McCartney cover becomes his second leader on both tallies. It’s also his first time ruling the two rankings as a lead artist. He previously reached the highest spot on the lists as a featured artist on tobyMac’s “The Goodness” back in 2022.
Amazingly, “Wonderful Christmastime” is powerful and popular enough to succeed on a number of Billboard charts this week–and in different forms. McCartney’s original take is back for the season, just as has been the case for several years now. His version is present inside the top 40 on the Hot 100, where it currently sits at No. 36–not far from its No. 28 high point.
McCartney has been enjoying a huge few months on the Billboard charts. He returned to a number of lists—even earning more No. 1s on some specific rankings—with the latest hit from The Beatles, “Now and Then.” The singer-songwriter is also present on a handful of tallies with one of his earliest solo albums, McCartney II, which has returned as fans buy it in large numbers once again.
