Pizza, Bagels, Taxis, and Subway: Beatles Legend Paul McCartney Tackles All Things New York City in New Q&A Feature

Paul McCartney is in a New York City state of mind in a new video feature posted on his social media sites. The clip, dubbed “This or That: New York Edition,” features the Beatles legend sharing his preferences when given a choice between two things associated with or related to the Big Apple.

The video is timed to promote the fact that McCartney’s archival photo exhibit, Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm, will be closing at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City on August 18.

Sir Paul is first asked whether he prefers Brooklyn or Manhattan.

“I’ll have to go with both. They’re both beautiful,” he said. McCartney then shared, “I always thought Brooklyn was just a tiny little bit on the edge of Manhattan. It’s bloody massive! I’ll have ’em both.”

He next was asked to choose between bagel and pizza.

McCartney chuckled and then said, “Depends on what time of day. Lunchtime, bagel. Evening, pizza!”

The 82-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer was next asked to choose between two popular forms of transportation in New York: Taxi or subway.

“Taxi, although I do like the subway,” he said.

Lastly, McCartney was asked if he preferred Times Square or Central Park, and he picked Central Park.

The Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm exhibit features various pics Paul snapped while on tour with The Beatles in various cities. The display boasts photos that appear in McCartney’s 2023 coffee-table book 1964: Eyes of the Storm.

Paul took the pics in 1963 and ’64, while the Fab Four were caught in the middle of the Beatlemania craze. Images include photos taken in Paris, London, and in various U.S. cities during the band’s first visit to America. The exhibition features more than 250 photos personally taken by McCartney using his Pentax camera. It also includes archival video clips and memorabilia.

The exhibit debuted at the National Portrait Gallery in London, where it was on display from June to October 2023. It opened at the Brooklyn Museum on May 3, 2024.

Another version of the Eyes of the Storm exhibit opened July 19 at Tokyo City View in Tokyo, Japan, , where it will remain on display until September 24.
