A recent study by Swiss tattoo shop LLTattoo reveals that Pink Floyd is the ultimate muse for rock-band tattoos, with their iconic album art inspiring over 13,000 monthly searches worldwide. Their legendary covers, such as The Dark Side of the Moon and Animals, have become symbols of rock culture.
Coming in second is Guns N’ Roses, with just over 10,600 searches, thanks in part to the tattoo-worthy Appetite for Destruction album cover, designed by late tattoo artist Billy White, Jr. German industrial metal giants Rammstein round out the top three with over 10,500 searches.
“Rock music and tattoos are inseparable,” says LLTattoo’s Mentor Dedaj. “It’s fascinating to see which bands inspire people’s ink. Some results were expected, but there were a few surprises too!”
The rest of the top 10 includes Metallica, Nirvana, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Twenty One Pilots, Iron Maiden, and Tool. The findings align with a similar study by TicketSource, which also crowned Pink Floyd as the top rock tattoo inspiration.
Whether it’s their timeless music or visually stunning artwork, these bands have left an indelible mark—literally.
