Ringo Starr announces plans for new country album

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has shared details about two new upcoming projects that he has been working on, including a country album.

Last year, Starr revealed that he had been working on an EP made up of country music, as well as a collaborative effort between himself and the American singer-songwriter Linda Perry. Now, in this new announcement, Ringo has shed more light on his upcoming country project, that has snowballed into a full album.

Taking to social media on February 2nd, Starr revealed, “I was gonna do a country EP, but as things are unfolding, it’s probably going to be like a real CD, ten tracks. Can you believe it? I haven’t done one of them in a long time. So that’s getting made ready.”

If the country album does turn out to be a full-length release, it will mark Starr’s first studio album since 2019’s What’s My Name. Ringo’s solo career has always heavily been collaborative, with the aforementioned LP featuring Joe Walsh, Benmont Tench, Steve Lukather and even his old bandmate, Paul McCartney.

Furthermore, the ex-Beatle shared details of his collaboration with Perry, which will take the form of a four-track EP entitled Crooked Boy. Showing off the packaging of the EP, Starr revealed it will feature the songs, ‘Gonna Need Someone’, ‘Crooked Boy’, ‘February Sky’, and ‘Adeline’.

On his work with Linda Perry, Ringo admitted, “She wrote the songs for me. She produced them. She’s a beauty, so musical,” before adding, “She has a great vibe. Peace and love, Linda.”

Ringo is set to tour with The All Starrs in the summer of this year, kicking off with a show at The Venetian theatre in Las Vegas.
