Watch the trailer for ‘John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial’

The first trailer for Apple TV+’s new documentary series John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial has been released.

The three-part show is a deep dive into the 1980 assassination of the former Beatles member. It is narrated by Hollywood legend Kiefer Sutherland and directed by Nick Holt and Rob Coldstream. The programme is set to arrive on the streaming platform on December 6th.

Murder Without a Trial asserts that it is the “most thoroughly researched examination” of the Liverpudlian musician’s murder by Mark David Chapman. To add integrity to the show, showrunners cleared Freedom of Information Act requests with NYPD, the Board of Parole and the District Attorney’s Office during production.

The documentary also features unseen crime scene photos and exclusive eyewitness interviews, “shedding new light on the life and murder of music and cultural icon John Lennon, and the investigation and conviction of Mark David Chapman, his confessed killer.”

Those interviewed included Lennon’s friends, the police officers who worked on the case, and Chapman’s lawyers and prosecutors. It will arrive on Apple TV+ on December 6th.

In other Beatles news, they recently released their final ever song, ‘Now and Then’. Originally written but left unfinished by John Lennon in the 1970s, the surviving members of the band, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, recently finished the track, which features guitars recorded by the late George Harrison in 1995.

The track became the band’s first song to reach the top of the charts in the United Kingdom since ‘The Ballad of John and Yoko’ in 1969.
